Rhode Island Hospital's Injury Prevention Centre completed a study in August 2009, to develop, implement and evaluate the adoption of a model of screening & brief interventions for alcohol misuse in the community hospital Emergency Room. The study has shown that screening & brief interventions can be successfully integrated in an emergency environment with a combination of training, appropriate tools and designated resources.
