The Change Book is a tool to help you implement change initiatives that will improve prevention and treatment outcomes. It is designed for administrators, staff, educators and policy makers. Using this manual will increase your knowledge about effective technology transfer methods and will build your skills in implementing change within agencies.
The Change Book includes Principles, Steps, Strategies and Activities for achieving effective change. The Principles are required elements necessary for successful technology transfer, and the Steps are a guide to effectively creating and implementing a change plan. While the Strategies provide specific guidelines for working with individuals, groups and multiple levels within your organization, the Activities are actual tasks that can be used throughout the process to affect knowledge, skills and attitudes - ultimately creating behavior change. We encourage you to read this document in its entirety.
Since it was first published, The Change Book has proven to be a landmark document for the fields of substance abuse treatment and prevention. It was the first publication of its kind to outline the multidimensional aspects of instituting change specifically for addiction related agencies.
