Brief Intervention for Anxiety in Primary Care Patients from the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine was published online by Medscape.
This detailed article targets GPs and other primary health care workers. It will be of interest for all those who work with people affected by anxiety. The article provides some anxiety specific screening tools and a simple explanation on how to run screening and assessment as well as how to manage the initial visit. It also explains the role of cognitive behavioural therapy and motivational interviewing, pharmacotherapy and the importance of detecting whether there is a comorbid substance or alcohol abuse.
