The Alcohol Treatment Guidelines for Indigenous Australians is a very useful resource developed for a wide range of healthcare providers in urban, regional, rural and remote areas working with Indigenous clients adversely affected by alcohol consumption.

The guidelines contain some very useful tips for cross-cultural communication, a tool kit for clinical management of alcohol problems, detailed information on physical effects of alcohol and a valuable list of relevant resources and contacts as well as a glossary. The Guidelines are based five principles of rights to receive services, diversity, respect and recognition wellbeing, complementary to other Indigenous strategies and the context of impact of colonisation. They are designed to be a reliable source of information with flexibility for situational adjustment.
