There are 30 funded headspace services. These services provide an entry point for young people to access a broad range of services that are available in their local community. The website uses the internet as the means to provide a primary source of advice and support.
As a national, coordinated focus on youth mental health and related drug and alcohol problems in Australia it aims to improve access for young people aged 12-25 years to appropriate services and ensure better coordination between services. headspace is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing and operated by a consortium led by ORYGEN Research Centre at the University of Melbourne and includes the Australian General Practice Network, the Australian Psychological Society and the Brain and Mind Research Institute at the University of Sydney.
